Our class this year consists of 26 students, 14 girls and 12 boys.
This term the area of focus has been Local Environments, where the children have been learning about Annandale, the history and the evolving nature of land use for the area. We will be learning about the unique habitat which exists at Whites Creek when we have a lesson there with an environmental officer from Leichhardt Council.
The swimming carnival was held in Week Two. As this was their first experience at a school carnival it proved to be very exciting, which was evident in their enthusiasm to learn war cries and in participation in events. A basketball program has also been operating where the children focused on skill acquisition progressing to a modified game in the final days. This was an eagerly anticipated time each day of the program!
The Learning garden has had some new plantings of vegetables and we look forward to the harvest and enjoying the results in several months. Here are some of the children hard at work in the garden.
As well as these highlights the children have been working hard in the other subject areas.
The children are enthusiastic and industrious towards their work and so I look forward to a productive and rewarding year.
